Visitors to Asheville and Buncombe County bring $2 billion to local businesses each year and contribute $87.9 million in annual sales and property taxes to local government coffers, according to a 2017 study by Tourism Economics.  

But also benefiting from the tourism industry are local nonprofits, as the Mountain Xpress points out in a recent article.

“We are continually amazed by the philanthropic nature of our culinary and hospitality community here and how generous they are to the local community,” says Mary Nesbitt of MANNA FoodBank. “The contributions they make are immeasurable.”
