The Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority hosted a Tourism Management Forum on October 23. The project team presented their findings from the comprehensive assessment of the benefits and impacts of tourism in Asheville and Buncombe County, with a focus on authenticity, local economy, capacity and affordability, infrastructure and capital investment, and connectivity.

The Forum included findings from the Resident Sentiment Survey and Public Input Workshops that took place in August – elements of Phase 1 of the Tourism Management and Investment Plan to Develop Community Assets (TMIP).

The Tourism Product Development Fund (TPDF), a community grant program administered by BCTDA, is undergoing an evolution. With TMIP, the TPDF will transition from an application-based process to a long-range investment strategy based on community input and collaboration with public entities.

The objective of TMIP is to become more proactive and strategic in how revenue from the TPDF is invested in future years while protecting the quality of place for people who live here. Find more information or submit your questions about TMIP here.
