The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for proactively managing relationships within the tourism business community in Buncombe County — connecting local businesses with promotional opportunities available through the sales and marketing programs funded by visitor spending and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority (BCTDA). This includes managing an annual partner engagement program that is in alignment with and supports the BCTDA’s strategic imperatives: Delivery Balanced Recovery & Sustainable Growth, Encouraging Safe & Responsible Travel, Engaging & Inviting More Diverse Audiences, and Promoting & Supporting Asheville’s Creative Spirit.
This role is responsible for attracting new partners and increasing engagement with existing partners through regular communications, strategic partnerships within the community, and coordinating a series of annual industry partner events. Additionally, this role is the primary contact for Explore Asheville tourism partners creating a new account on ExploreAsheville.com, managing the onboarding process and providing ongoing support for partners with their presence on Explore Asheville’s platforms.
Primary responsibilities include initiating and fostering partner relations, onboarding efforts, managing a robust database, providing orientations, extranet training and support, and developing the collateral materials necessary to execute on these responsibilities and other special projects as needed. Responsibilities also include coordinating all aspects of the industry partner event program, developing schedules, speakers/topics and materials for the event and managing AV functions, creating partner emails, and updating the industry partner WordPress website.
This role also supports and represents the organization in community outreach efforts and special projects as needed. The Community Engagement Manager must maintain the confidentiality of marketing and sales information, database files, financial statements, web statistics, and other sensitive data.
